Director of Finance

John serves as the Director of Finance for Pennington Partners & Co. and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the firm. John joined Pennington with over 12 years of experience in the alternative investments space.

Prior to joining Pennington, John served as the Financial Controller and Investment Committee member for Hull Street Energy, a middle-market private equity firm focused on the energy transition with over $2 billion of assets under management. He was responsible for all aspects of the accounting and finance functions of the company.

John also worked as Financial Controller at CNF Investments, a subsidiary of Clark Enterprises/Construction. At CNF, John was responsible for the back-office accounting functions of a family office/fund of funds with a diverse portfolio of investments including private equity funds, direct venture capital, and hedge funds.

John began his career working as an auditor for Bond Beebe Advisors and Accountants as well as a senior accountant at Crowell & Morning, an international law firm.

John is a CPA and a graduate of the Robert H Smith School of Business of the University of Maryland where he earned a BS in Finance and Accounting. John resides in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife, Stephanie and their three children, Everett, Thalia, and Malcolm.
